We’re excited to announce our 15-day photography tour of Morocco and we invite you to join us! From the bustling bazaars of Marrakech to the iconic Saharan sand dunes to the labyrinths of Fez, Morocco offers some of the most incredible opportunities for travel photography. 

This trip is open to all, no matter where you hail from and no matter what your level of experience in photography. This photo tour will concentrate on experiencing and photographing the Moroccan culture and landscape. We expect most travelers will be enthusiastic photographers. John and Kenna will be your photo guides in the field, available to answer and help with all photography related questions.

John and Kenna have followed different paths exploring the world with their cameras and have now joined forces for this amazing photography journey. With a checklist of over 60 countries visited and 50 years of combined photography experience, seasoned and savvy travelers John & Kenna are your perfect leaders for this Moroccan adventure.

We are thrilled to team up with Emily M. Wilson, owner of Traveller Worldwide Explorations, Ltd. Emily specializes in small group cultural tours to North Africa and the Middle East. She has led trips to Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey for more than 15 years. Emily will be your cultural guide and trip coordinator.

Morocco 2014 Itinerary

Day 1 - Monday Oct 6

All travelers fly to Marrakech (RAK) independently, arrive before 1:30pm
Transfer 2.5 hrs west to the city of Essaouira on the Atlantic shore.

Day 2 - Tuesday Oct 7

Full day of photography in the colorful port city of Essaouira. Investigate the activity at the bustling fishing port and see the filming location of Orson Welles "Othello."

Day 3 - Wednesday Oct 8

Trasfer back to Marrakech with a stop to witness the manual extraction of oil from the nuts of indigenous argan trees. Afternoon walking tour of Marrakech medina, bazaars, monuments & shrines.

Day 4 - Thursday Oct 9

A full day for shooting in the Marrakech medina, including an afternoon visit to the exotic Majorelle Garden in the new city, with its unique Museum of Berber Culture.

Day 5 - Friday Oct 10

Time in the morning to continue the discovery of Marrackech and its secrets. Afternoon transfer to the High Atlas mountains and the Tin Mal fortress mosque, with a return to Marrackech in the evening.

Day 6 - Saturday Oct 11

Early morning departure south through the spectacular mountain pass of Tisi-N-Tichka. Evening shoot at Aït ben Haddou Casbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and backdrop for "Gladiator."

Day 7 - Sunday Oct 12

Morning free for photography around Ighnda before a visit to the international filming center Ouarzazate. Continue eastward by adobe fortressess, to Dades Valley with varied orchard and ksour and odd rock formations.

Day 8 - Monday Oct 13

Continue eastward toward the Sahara desert through narrow gorges and dense palm groves to the town of Erfoud. Land Rover excursion to the Erg Chebbhi sea of 600ft. sand dunes to photograph the sunset.

Day 9 - Tuesday Oct 14

Head north through Ziz River canyon and over the stark, multi-hued expanses of the Eastern High Atlas with the occasional photo stop. Early evening arrival in the fabled city of Fez.

Day 10 - Wednesday Oct 15

Full day of exploration and photography in the labyrinth of cobblestone alleyways which pass by workshops, public ovens, tanneries and bazaars. Time for you to shoot on your own or in a small group.

Day 11 - Thursday Oct 16

Another day in Fez, return to locations scouted from the day before or make your way to new locations.

Day 12 - Friday Oct 17

Transfer 3.5 hours north to the Rif Mountains and the hillside town of Chefchaouen. Time to explore the North's most picturesque town with its cobblestone alleys, mixed whitewashed and blue buildings and alleyways. Lose yourself in the blue alleyways with blue doors, blue steps and blue buildings.

Day 13 - Saturday Oct 18

Full day in the city of Chefchaouen.

Day 14 - Sunday Oct 19

Morning drive to the Southwest capital of Rabat. Discover the Chellah fortress with its gardens, simple Roman vestiges and the intricate necropois along with a stop at the mausoleum of Mohamed V on the ground of a ruined 12.C. mosque.

Day 15 - Monday Oct 20

A morning group transfer, 1.5 hours, to Casablanca (CMN) airport.
