Leica is a legendary name in the photographic world that has been around for more than 100 years. The high price of Leicas has caused a lot of discussions about the value of the item. While I can’t say if it’s right for you or not, I can say that it is a unique experience that is very enjoyable and particularly adept at certain types of photography.

Here are my five favorite things about Leica cameras:

The Un-Camera

Once you learn the controls the camera really disappears and it becomes you and your subject.

Super stealth

Everything about the camera is quiet, smooth, and discreet. The sound of the shutter is one of the quietest on any camera available today.

Continuous Viewing

The Leica viewfinder allows you to view your subject during the exposure, it also allows you to see outside the frame lines to better comprehend all the possible compositions.

Full Frame but Small Size

Leica seems to have cornered the market on a balance between small size and high quality. The cameras are the smallest full frame option available and more importantly, the lenses are also small.

Ready for the moment

It’s the only camera that allows you to set all critical settings even when the camera is off. Shutter speeds, apertures, ISO, and focusing.

The value of the camera is hard to justify but there really is nothing else like a Leica.
